Week 8

Here are The Green Lantern Kyle Raynor for the JLA list and Two-Face for the Batman list. Weeks 7 and 8 are colored with coloured pencils because I didn't have time to colour on Photoshop. I may come back to them and colour them on Photoshop later. Week 7, while only being posted this week, was actually last week. So, I felt like I should catch up and in order to do that I couldn't colour on Photoshop.

Week Seven (I think)

week 7?

these are late. i have been trying to play catch up all week. my grandma passed away late at night on valentine's day so i have been busy all week dealing with her passing. i have also been trying all weekend to catch up on homework for grad school. not quite caught up but closer. here is my attempt at the joker for the batman list and hal jordan green lantern for the jla list. these were pencil sketches that were then inked with a small water color brush and some india ink.

Week Six

I'm very happy with these.
In case, anyone following doesn't know who these are, it is the Green Lantern John Stewart (for the JLA list) and Batman Beyond a.k.a. the Batman of the future (for the Batman list).

here are my attempts at batman beyond for the batman list and green lantern john stewart for the jla list. this should mark like a whole month of green lanterns. plus i monkeyed with coloring.

here is my attempt at batgirl for the batman list and martian manhunter for the jla list. sorry these are so late. this is my first week of online grad school for an mfa in illustration geared toward graphic novels so almost all of my attention went that way.

Hmm....what should I claim as the reason that this week's sketches aren't good?
I was sick?

I don't know. I don't like these. They didn't really turn out. I tried a different coloring thing with Photoshop. On the Batgirl one, the Batgirl in the middle is the one the sketch is of, the other two are different women that went by the name of Batgirl. I colored them with a different opacity of color to try and make them look slightly...different I guess. I was going for something akin to when characters are moving throughout the picture, and there are multiple drawings of the character in different poses and the one that is colored like the rest of the comic is the one that is in the precise moment of the frame (the others are images from the not to distant past). I think people who read comics will know what I mean...
It didn't work.

Oh, I also tried that with the Martian Manhunter. That weird blob of color between normal Martian him and superhero him is supposed to be him metamorphosing from one to the other. I colored it that way to indicate some kind of...transience for lack of a better word.

It didn't work very well but it was worth a shot.

tried somethin different with martian manhunter. it was fun, i may do more of that in the future... still haven't done one in pencil yet... i'm workin on it though...
